Overview (Details, Topics and Speakers):
Ambulatory care clinical pharmacists are often responsible for managing comorbid conditions of patients with cancer. The January ACSAP release, Oncologic/Hematologic Care, presents evidence-based updates on the management of several common malignancies, practical information regarding toxicities of oral chemotherapy, and recommendations for cancer screening, prevention, and cancer survivor care.
The book contains four learning modules with a total available 17.5 continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits. The content of Oncologic/Hematologic Carewas developed under the leadership of Faculty Panel Chair Julianna A. Merten, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCOP.
Chapters in the first module focus on cancer screening and prevention for common solid tumors; and current management of lung cancer, including novel targeted agents. The second module presents the latest evidence-based treatments for melanoma; and an in-depth review of metabolic, cardiovascular, and dermatologic toxicities of novel oral chemotherapy agents. The third module has chapters covering survivorship management in cancer survivors, ranging from late cardiac and neurotoxicities to fatigue, sexual health and vaccination; and vaccination in patients with immunocompromise, such as solid organ transplant recipients and patients with HIV infection. Chapters in the fourth module focus on the shift to oral therapies to manage multiple myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, two common hematologic malignancies in the elderly.
Each ACSAP release includes two full-color online formats: (1) interactive PDFs you can save to your desktop or print; and (2) an e-media version you can view on an e-reader, tablet, iOS or Android smart phone.
ACSAP chapters are fully referenced, with clickable hyperlinks to literature compilers such as PubMed.
